Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 2,072 head of sheep and goats Feb. 9, compared to 704 head last week and 1,308 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, there was no market test on feeder lambs. Heavy weight slaughter lambs steady to firm, light weights $5 to $7 higher. No test on feeder goats. Slaughter goats were $10 to $15 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including near 400 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, few 77 lbs., ewe lambs 100.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few new-crop 90 to 100 lbs., 102.00 to 104.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 45 to 80 lbs., 127.00 to 139.00. Choice: 100 to 140 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00. Bucks, few 175 lbs., 32.00. Barbados, lambs, 15 to 40 lbs., 135.00 to 155.00, 45 to 75 lbs., 108.00 to 123.00; ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 40.00 to 55.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 130.00 to 143.00, few to 146.00; 45 to 60 lbs., 134.00 to 150.00, few to 152.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 129.00 to 142.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 115.00 to 127.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 140 lbs., 50.00 to 66.00, thin 40.00 to 45.00. Billies, 100 to 200 lbs., 72.00 to 80.00, few light weights 85.00 to 94.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 90 to 130 lbs., 74.00 to 80.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 70 to 130 lbs., 70.00 to 86.00. Pairs, 30.00 to 37.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 110.00 to 260.00 per head.
