Texas A&M agriculture faculty receive regents awardsTexas Five Texas A&M Agriculture faculty were honored by the Board of Regents in early December. Regents Professor Award honors were given to Dr. David A Bessler, Texas A University agricultural economist, and Dr. John R. Gold, Texas Agricultural Experiment Station wildlife researcher. Regents Fellow Service Awards were given to Dr. Billy Higginbotham, Texas Cooperative Extension wildlife specialist in Overton; Dr. Charles M. Rush, Experiment Station plant pathologist in Amarillo; and Extension's Iraq Agriculture Revitalization Project leader Robert A. Whitney, formerly of Comanche County and now of Amman, Jordan. The Regents Professor Award was established in 1996 "to recognize and honor faculty members who have made exemplary contributions to their university, agency or health science center and to the people of Texas." The Regents Fellow Service Award began in 1997 "to recognize exceptional service by professionals in the A System agencies." Both awards provide a $9,000 stipend, medallion and certificate. 12/31/07 Date: 12/27/07
