Lexington livestock sales
The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 2,000 head Dec. 21, compared to 3,475 head last week and 1,950 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. Compared to last week, the bulk of steer and heifer offerings trended mostly steady. Exceptions were 600-pound steers which traded at instances of $3 to $5 higher. The 450- to 500-pound heifers were somewhat softer at the beginning of the auction but firmed up later. Demand was moderate to good and trade activity was mostly moderate. Receipts consisted of 64% steers and 36% heifers with 69% of the total weighing over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 415 to 447 lbs., 128.00 to 129.00 (128.23); 464 to 473 lbs., 126.00 to 132.00 (128.19); 525 to 549 lbs., 111.50 to 119.75 (116.56); 571 to 580 lbs., 112.50 to 116.75 (115.47); 613 to 641 lbs., 107.50 to 114.00 (111.77) calves; 669 to 692 lbs., 112.00 calves; 712 to 748 lbs., 102.75 to 108.75 (105.44) calves; 24 head, 721 lbs., 98.50 full; 759 to 799 lbs., 102.00 to 110.00 (106.04) calves; 13 head, 805 lbs., 104.00 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 345 lbs., 120.00; 467 to 476 lbs., 117.00 to 118.00 (117.40); 511 to 546 lbs., 105.00 to 112.75 (111.91); 14 head, 577 lbs., 108.75; 626 to 646 lbs., 102.50 to 104.50 (103.41) calves; 651 to 685 lbs., 93.00 to 103.50 (100.90) calves; 43 head, 761 lbs., 98.00 calves.
