Pickens Auctions announced Gregg Pickens has received the Certified Auctioneers Institute Designation from the National Auctioneers Association. He is one of less than 15 in Oklahoma. The designation requires a 3-year commitment in an executive development program covering management skills, business ethics, finance and marketing.

Environmental Lubricants Manufacturing (ELM), Cedar Falls, Iowa, has appointed Alan Burgess as technical manager. Burgess will be responsible for guiding product development and improvement activities. ELM has relocated to Cedar Falls from Plainfield, Iowa, after a fire this past March destroyed the production facility there. "The company was able to maintain its customers and provide products by out-sourcing its grease blending operations" Burgess said. According to Burgess, the new facility is more centrally located and will be used to blend the company's large array of bio-based lubricants and specialty products.

Elliott Insurance Management, Hutchinson, Kan., announced General Manager Lee Gleason and Account Executive Michelle Tucker have earned the Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) designation from the Insurance Skills Center and the IBA West Agribusiness Committee. The AFIS designation, the nation's only insurance designation on agricultural risks, is awarded to those who complete a highly specialized education program that focuses on training underwriters and agents on the complexities of the farm insurance industry.

Bridgeport Tractor Parts, Bridgeport, Neb., hosted its 4th Annual Open House Celebration Dec. 5. More than 140 people attended the event featuring tours of the salvage yard and discussions about the latest in tractor and combine parts with the Bridgeport Tractor Parts staff.

Genex Cooperative, Inc., Shawano, Wis., names Rusty Williams, Hugoton, Kan., as an Area Beef Representative (ABR). In this position, Williams offers personalized genetic and reproductive services throughout the counties of Hamilton, Kearny, Stanton, Grant, Haskell, Morton, Stevens and Seward within southwest Kansas.

The Farm Foundation Board of Trustees has named Neilson C. Conklin to be the sixth president of Farm Foundation, Oak Brook, Ill., according to Board Chairman Sara Wyant. Conklin will succeed Walter J. Armbruster, who has served as president of the Foundation since 1991.

The Industry Task Force II on 2,4-D Research Data has named James (Jim) W. Gray as its new executive director. With more than two decades of professional and regulatory experience in the agriculture and biotechnology industries, Gray succeeds Jack Dutra who is retiring. Based in Kansas City, Gray will continue to provide new research and study data to both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency in support of 2,4-dichloro-phenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), one of the most widely used and successful herbicides around the world.

Mycogen Seeds, Indianapolis, Ind., has added three new District Agronomists. Doug Heatwole, Marshall Biddlecome and Mark Riehl all join the Agronomy Services Team to provide support to their local districts. Heatwole is joining the southern Plains district to supply assistance to central/western Kansas and eastern Colorado. Biddlecome is joining the Nebraska district to provide support to central/western Nebraska. Riehl is working in the Northeast district to supply assistance to both Ohio and Michigan.
