High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Dec. 23, totaled 138,949 head, compared to 159,664 head last week and 122,565 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo. The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 2,235 head, 1,350 to 1,490 lbs., 88.00 to 91.00 (89.58); 65 to 80% Choice, 6,705 head, 1,240 to 1,525 lbs., 89.00 to 92.50 (89.84); 35 to 65% Choice, 26,160 head, 1,135 to 1,450 lbs., 88.00 to 92.50 (91.31); 0 to 35% Choice, 775 head, 1,200 to 1,385 lbs., 91.00 to 92.00 (91.83).
