Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Dec. 21, reported receipts of 2,920 head of sheep and goats, compared to 3,744 head last week, according to the USDA to Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were steady, heavy weights were steady on a light test. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats under 45 pounds were $5 to $10 lower, over 45 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Demand was very good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 750 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 90 to 125 lbs., 51.00 to 100.00. Dorper bucks, 120 to 195 lbs., 56.00 to 100.00. Barbados pairs, few 30.00 to 37.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few 130 lbs., 94.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 115.00 to 130.00, few to 140.00. Barbados lambs, 40 to 70 lbs., 102.00 to 117.00; ewes, 70 to 90 lbs., 40.00 to 56.00; Bucks, individual 115 lbs., 50.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 110.00 to 121.00; 45 to 60 lbs., 110.00 to 121.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 113.00 to 124.00. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 109.00 to 112.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 50.00, few light weights 55.00 to 65.00. Billies, 90 to 175 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00, few light weights 110.00 to 116.00. Muttons, 85 to 110 lbs., 89.00 to 114.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 80.00. Pairs, 27.00 to 38.00 per head.
