Georgia cattle market summary
The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Dec. 21, showed receipts of 7,281 head, compared to 11,602 head last week and 5,630 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $2 to $5 higher, bulls were $2 to $4 higher, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher, steer calves and heifer calves were steady to $4 higher, replacement cows were mostly $1 to $4 higher. The offering included 6% steers over 600 pounds, 29% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 25% heifers under 600 pounds, 11% feeder cows, 21% slaughter cows, and 3% bulls.
