Denison cattle sales report
The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 1,391 head Dec. 18, compared to 2,831 head last week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa. This was a special feeder cattle sale. Demand was good. Steers and heifer calves traded $1 to $2 higher than last week. Yearlings were steady with a higher undertone. Receipts included 61% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 38% heifers and 62% steers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 338 lbs., 149.00; 6 head, 365 to 368 lbs., 137.00 to 140.00 (138.49); 453 to 496 lbs., 124.50 to 127.75 (125.92); 511 to 545 lbs., 117.75 to 123.25 (120.89); 553 to 582 lbs., 120.00 to 121.00 (120.40); 611 to 647 lbs., 107.50 to 115.50 (109.83) calves; 14 head, 690 lbs., 106.25 calves; 706 to 729 lbs., 103.25 to 105.50 (104.15) calves; 768 to 773 lbs., 107.00; 36 head, 834 lbs., 106.50; 859 to 866 lbs., 106.50 to 107.00 (106.87). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 head, 445 lbs., 121.00; 5 head, 458 lbs., 118.50; 14 head, 512 to 546 lbs., 115.00 to 117.00 (116.26); 24 head, 629 lbs., 104.00 to 105.00 (104.29) calves; 12 head, 713 lbs., 100.00; 28 head, 826 lbs., 99.85; 28 head, 863 lbs., 99.85; 23 head, 913 lbs., 94.00.
