Dalhart livestock sales reportThe Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,107 head Dec. 20, compared to 1,210 head last week and 197 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, except heifers at 500 to 600 pounds were $2 lower, over 600 pounds were firm. Slaughter cows were $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 88%, slaughter cows and bulls 12%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 54% of the run, heifers 46%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 47%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 300 to 400 lbs., 140.00 to 142.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 138.00 to 148.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 123.00 to 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 119.00 to 122.50, fleshy 106.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lb. calves 100.50 to 105.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 107.25, few calves 101.00 to 102.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 48.50 to 52.50; low dressing, 46.00 to 47.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 47.00 to 51.50. Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 2000 lbs., 48.25 to 49.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 48.00 to 48.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1300 to 1700 lbs., 45.25 to 48.00.
