Business management course for farm and ranch women set in MontBillings, Baker, Jordan locations added Montana Annie's Project, a nationally recognized program designed to empower farm and ranch women to become better business managers, operators and partners in agriculture, is coming to Montana this winter. Sessions are currently scheduled in Baker, Billings, Bozeman, Culbertson, Dillon, Glasgow, Great Falls, Havre, Jordon, Lewistown, Miles City, Rapelje, Scobey, Shelby and Sidney. Annie's Project is named for a woman who grew up in a small town in Northern Illinois. She married a farmer and then spent her life learning how to be his business partner. This project takes her experiences and shares them with farm and ranch women. The program brings women together to sharpen their business skills, grow confidence, identify their strengths and build friendships. There will be six three-hour sessions in 15 locations around Montana starting in January. Each Monday evening session will run from 5 to 8 p.m., and include a light dinner. The sessions will cover topics such as risk and personality assessment; women and money; business planning; retirement and estate planning; property titles; leases; risk management; grain and livestock marketing; insurance and many facets of computer use. Speakers include Marsha Goetting, MSU Extension family economics specialist; Duane Griffith, MSU Extension farm management records specialist; Jill Martz, interim director of the Montana 4-H Center for Youth Development; Mark Major, MSU Extension agent in Teton County; Ed Usset, grain marketing specialist of the Center for Farm Financial Management at the University of Minnesota; Megan Shroyer of Northwest Farm Credit Services; Susan Cunningham of Cunningham Crop Insurance; Les Graham, worker's comp specialist; Thrivent Financial insurance agents; Darcy Reum, accountant for Galusha, Higgins & Galusha; and Heidi Brewer, Montana Farm Service Agency. Registration is $100 and includes meals and all supplies necessary for the program. Annie's Project is being brought to you by Montana MarketManager, a program of the Montana Grain Growers Association and the Montana Stock Growers Association. Collaborators include Montana Cattle Women, Women Involved in Farm Economics and Montana State University.
