Salina cattle auction reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, reported receipts of 1,473 head, Dec. 13, compared to 3,132 head, last week and 4,828 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 450 to 600 pounds were not enough for a market test but a steady undertone was noted, and those at 600 to 650 pounds were firm to $1 higher. Steers at 650 to 850 pounds were in a limited supply steady to weak, and 850 to 950 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Heifers at 450 to 650 pounds were firm to $2 higher in a limited supply, and 650 to 900 pounds were weak to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were not tested. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 82% 600 pounds and over, 17% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 51% steers and 49% heifers.
