Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,091 head, Dec. 13, compared to 3,031 head, last week and 2,106 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were not enough for a market test. Steers at 600 to 950 pounds were $2 to $4 lower in an extremely light supply. Heifers at 600 to 950 pounds were steady in an extremely light supply. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were not tested. Receipts included 86% 600 pounds and over, 2% 600 pounds and under, 12% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 55% steers and 45% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 564 lbs., 109.50; 73 head, 635 lbs., 104.25; 24 head, 698 lbs., 106.25; 37 head, 745 lbs., 103.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 101.50 to 103.35 (103.04); 47 head, 835 lbs., 103.35; 92 head, 871 lbs., 103.75; 35 head, 945 lbs., 103.50. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 892 lbs., 97.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 4 head, 580 lbs., 100.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 97.50 to 101.50 (100.50); 5 head, 683 lbs., 97.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 100.50 to 102.50 (102.19); 750 to 800 lbs., 98.50 to 102.25 (100.89); 800 to 850 lbs., 100.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 95.50 to 99.50 (96.35); 900 to 950 lbs., 94.00 to 97.50 (96.33). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 613 lbs., 94.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 95.50 to 97.50 (95.97). Medium and large frame 2, 7 head, 699 lbs., 92.00.

Baby calves: Per head, 1 head, 130.00.

Feeder cows and heiferettes: 80 head, 70.00 to 91.00 (83.18).

Slaughter cows: Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 41.00 to 46.00; high dressing, 47.00 to 49.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 55.00 to 60.00 (57.42).
