Lexington livestock salesThe Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 3,475 head Dec. 14, compared to 1,650 head last week and 2,550 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. Based on a limited test to last week's comparable offerings, steer and heifer calves trended from steady to $3 to $6 lower. There was no recent test of the yearling market to establish a trend. Demand was light to moderate and trade activity was somewhat sluggish at the start but picked up to a moderate pace as the auction progressed. Receipts consisted of 61% steers and 39% heifers with 58% of the total weighing over 600 pounds.
