Heaven and nature singAt Christmas, we often hear of heart-warming stories of selfless giving, families reuniting and childrens' dreams coming true. But to me, the thing that speaks to me the most are the thoughts of peace and nature in harmony in God's world. One of my favorite Christmas carols says, "And heaven and nature sing." How many people in this world can say they have felt heaven and nature sing? I can and so can you. I believe farmers and ranchers experience that harmony daily. It is those times when you just stop and catch your breath because the beauty of the scene around you gives you strength to finish a hard day's work: --Sitting on the hood of the truck at twilight, waiting for your ride back home after a day of harvesting, you hear the wind splashing through the beards of wheat. --Stopping at the top of the pasture hill, because you don't want to disturb the blanket of snow and beautiful scene below you. --Listening to the bawl of a newborn calf, as it struggles to stand on wobbly legs. --The feel of the cool breeze sweep across your face under the shade of a big cottonwood tree at the edge of the field. --The magnificent vibrant sunset that literally spans the western half of the sky and makes you stop the pickup to watch, before it fades away. It is your own scene of serenity and the one that speaks to you. They are truly God's grace in nature. We are all stewards of His land. What more important job could there be in this world? It is a wonderful blessing upon farmers and ranchers. May we enjoy it each and every day. God bless you and merry Christmas!
