Grain bids, soybeans lower on trade

Grain bids and soybeans were all lower on trading Dec. 18, according to the National Grain Market Summary.

Rally by the dollar to a two month high was not supportive for grain prices as wheat was again lower as fund liquidation was in order. Moisture in the southwest has helped wheat conditions. Corn was lower as there is the idea that farmer selling at a contract high. Soybeans were lower as rains in Argentina helped their soybean crop as more rains are in the forecast. Good weather has improved farmer selling.

Year to date: Wheat totaled 753.4 million bushels up 301.7 million; corn 728.4 million bushels up 72.6 million; sorghum 100.4 million bushels up 57.6 million and soybeans 382.1 million bushels down 56.6 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and September 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

In export news there were no new confirmed export sales to report.

In the futures close, March wheat was 9.71 1/2, down 14 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $9.42 down 14 cents; Minneapolis, $10.93 3/4, up 9 1/4 cents; Portland, $12.90 to $12.95, up 40 to 35 cents; St. Louis, $8.67, down 19 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck driver, included: Kansas City, $4.17, down 7 cent; Minneapolis, $3.93, down 7 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $3.94 to $3.97, down 6 3/4; Omaha, $4.13 to $4.15, down 7 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $10.86, down 7; Minneapolis, no bid; southern Iowa, $11.03 3/4 to $11.24 3/4, down 7 to 12 cents; central Illinois processors, $11.14 3/4 to $11.24 3/4, down 7 to 12 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Dec. 18, spot, fob track, included, No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $9.62 to $10.31, down 14 cents; 12% protein, $10.20 to $10.53, down 14 cents; 13% protein, $10.47 to $10.74, down 14 cents; 14% protein, $10.62 to $10.77, down 14 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $9.66 to $10.01, down 14 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $4.44 to $4.52, unchanged.
