Goldthwaite sheep salesThe Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Dec. 14, reported 3,744 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,787 head last week and 4,203 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $3 to $5 higher, heavier weights were $5 to $10 higher. Slaughter kids were light weight $8 to $10 higher, over 45 pounds were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included around 40% sheep including near 1,000 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Dorper bucks, 185 lbs., 90.00. Barbados ewes, few pairs 21.00 to 29.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 120 lbs., 100.00 to 114.00; Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 115.00 to 130.00, few to 133.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 150 lbs., 35.00 to 48.00. Slaughter bucks, 150 to 220 lbs., 40.00 to 45.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 70 lbs., 110.00 to 130.00. Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 115.00 to 136.00; 45 to 60 lbs., 110.00 to 123.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 114.00 to 126.00. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 112.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 75 to 130 lbs., 42.00 to 57.00, few light to 60.00.
