Faith livestock sales reportThe Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 763 head Dec. 17, compared to 1,885 head last week and 439 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, calves were not well tested. Feeder cows sold steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows sold fully steady. Slaughter bulls sold $2 to $3 higher in a very limited test. Demand was moderate to good. The total receipts were comprised of about 32% feeder cows, 9% slaughter cows and bulls, 56% bred cattle with the balance miscellaneous cattle. This will be the last sale for 2007, sales will resume on Monday January 17, 2008. Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, heiferettes 850 to 975 lbs., 79.00 to 87.00; young, 1150 to 1275 lbs., 57.00 to 62.50; middle-aged, 1200 to 1350 lbs., 47.25 to 50.00; aged, 1000 to 1275 lbs., 43.50 to 47.00. Large frame 1 to 2, 1390 to 1575 lbs., 45.50 to 50.00. Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1095 to 1450 lbs., 40.00 to 42.50; high dressing, 44.25; low dressing, 36.00 to 38.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1125 lbs., 36.50 to 39.50; low dressing, 34.00 to 35.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1600 to 2305 lbs., 52.50 to 57.75; high dressing, 58.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 50.50. Bred heifers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, bred black, calve March to April, price per head, 335 head, 975 to 1125 lbs., black-red whiteface 1120.00 to 1275.00. Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, bred black charolais, calve February to April, price per head, 62 head, 1050 to 1500 lbs., 3 to 6 years old, black-black whiteface 1050.00 to 1260.00; 10 head, 1550 to 1600 lbs., solid to broken, black-black whiteface 750.00 to 900.00.
