St. Onge livestock sales report
The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 2,569 head Dec. 7, compared to 2,775 head last week and 3,578 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, steer calves sold mixed with majority trending mostly steady, however calves over 600 pounds sold $1 to $3 lower. Heifer calves sold steady to $2 higher with most of the higher market on calves over 550 pounds. Feeding cows sold mostly steady to firm. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady. Demand was moderate to good. The feeder supply was comprised of 50% steers and 50% heifers with 32% over 600 pounds. Receipts included about 58% feeders, 17% feeding cows, 2% slaughter cows and bulls, 20% bred females with the balance other miscellaneous cattle. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 372 lbs., 141.00; 438 to 447 lbs., 127.00 to 133.00 (129.61); 479 to 480 lbs., 124.00 to 129.50 (128.83); 502 to 548 lbs., 112.50 to 120.00 (117.17); 512 to 539 lbs., 106.00 to 112.00 (110.16) fleshy; 552 to 599 lbs., 111.25 to 119.00 (113.32); 601 to 641 lbs., 104.00 to 111.75 (110.15) calves; 652 to 683 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00 (102.44) calves; 13 head, 735 to 736 lbs., 103.00 to 104.00 (103.69) calves; 24 head, 751 lbs., 102.75) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 553 lbs., 105.00; 12 head, 601 lbs., 101.00 calves.
