Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,132 head Dec. 6, compared to 4,831 head last week and 4,115 head last year, according to the USDA to Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 500 to 850 pounds were few steady, and the bulk of the trade were $1 to $2 lower, those at 850 to 1050 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Heifers at 500 to 850 pounds were weak to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were not tested. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 79% 600 pounds and over, 20% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers.
