Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,454 head Dec. 6, compared to 2,941 head last week and 2,662 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were not enough for market test but a steady to weak undertone was noted in a limited supply. Steers at 600 to 650 pounds were $2 higher, 650 to 900 pounds were $1 to $5 lower, 900 to 950 pounds were steady in a limited supply. Heifers at 600 to 800 pounds were $3 to $6 lower in an extremely limited supply, and 800 to 1000 pounds were not tested. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 68% 600 pounds and over, 21% 600 pounds and under, 11% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 51.00 to 53.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 41.00 to 46.00; high dressing, 47.00 to 50.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 55.00 to 60.00 (57.42).
