OKC West cattle sales
The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 426 head Dec. 12, compared to 7,723 head last week, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to the last week, there were not enough of any class or weight for a good market test, and a lower undertone was evident. There were not enough cows and bulls for price quotes. The recent ice storm restricted movement of cattle and buyers. Demand was moderate for feeders, light for calves. Wheat pasture slowed down by the ice cover but most of the state has received good rain over the last several days. The supply included 55% over 600 pounds, 45% heifers and 2% cows. Slaughter cows and bulls were not well tested. A total of 10 cows and bulls sold. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 685 lbs., 100.00; few 800 to 850 lbs., 97.50 to 100.00; package 950 lbs., 92.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, calves, package 575 lbs., 89.00; 600 to 700 lb. yearlings 92.00 to 97.50; package 715 lbs., 98.50; package 790 lbs., 93.00; package 870 lbs., 94.50. Medium and large frame 2, package 360 lbs., 98.00; few 900 to 1035 lbs., 89.00 to 92.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, package 360 lbs., 98.00; package 685 lbs., 84.00. Yearlings, few 695 to 720 lbs., 94.00 to 95.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, calves, 365 to 450 lbs., 93.00 to 95.00; 465 to 560 lbs., 86.00 to 88.00; package fleshy 550 lbs., 80.00. Yearlings, 690 to 755 lbs., 86.00 to 88.50. Medium and large frame 2, calves, package 315 lbs., 95.00; few 445 to 590 lbs., 87.50 to 93.50. Date: 12/13/07
