Lexington livestock sales
The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 1,650 head Dec. 7, compared to 2,300 head last week and 2,300 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. Compared to last week, the weaned preconditioned steers and heifers trended fully steady with instances of $1 to $2 higher. Those un-weaned offerings traded as much as $10 back due to impending rain, snow and frigid temperatures in the teens. Good quality offerings were coming in with average to thin flesh, although some offerings took on some fill. Demand was moderate to good and trading moderate to active. Receipts consisted of 58% steers and 42% heifers with 45% of the total weighing over 600 pounds.
