High Plains No-Till Conference tabs U.S. Farm Report host as keynote speakerThe Colorado Conservation Tillage Association and the National Sunflower Association are pleased to announce that John Phipps, host of the U.S. Farm Report, the nation's longest running farm show, will be the keynote speaker at the 20th Anniversary High Plains No-till Conference on Feb. 5 and 6, 2008 at Island Grove Regional Park Events Center in Greeley, Colo. Phipps is familiar to farm audiences from the pages of Farm Journal and Top Producer magazines as a contributing editor. A singular blend of humor and insight permeates his work on paper and at the podium. As an independent farmer, he has no political agenda or economic motive--just a determination to provide forthright commentary as part of his commitment to the profession he loves. He sells no product or service but his opinion, and more importantly, his hopes for the agriculture industry. Phipps topic, Feb. 5, 2008 will be "Prosperity for Dummies: Managing Success After A Long Layoff." The tools and attitudes that got us through the early years of the 21st Century may not be the ones to help us respond to the opportunities of an ethanol-powered agriculture. Is this a temporary spike or quantum leap for farming? Regardless, we can all benefit from updating our management toolbox to optimize our future. On Feb. 6, 2008 Phipps topic will be "The Prediction Factor: Why The Future Isn't What It Used To Be." With widespread use of tools like computer modeling, predictions are a dime a dozen. Is it helping? Oddly enough our brains have their own hardwiring for dealing with the unknown, and science is beginning to unravel some clues as to how we prepare for tomorrow. Improve your own predictions and understand the limitations with a few straightforward techniques. The conference offers nearly 40 breakout sessions presented by a mix of agri-business, college professors, research specialists and producers. You can update on the latest technology and research as well as listen to the tested results from producers. Certified Crop Advisors and Commercial Applicators can earn CEU's for attending many of the workshops. A Trade Show and an Antique Tractor and Truck Show add but the opportunity to visit with agri-business directly on the newest equipment, technology and equipment as well as stepping back to remember and appreciate the tractors of the past. A Farm Partner program provides breakout sessions of interest to the farming partner that feature farm related, family, or recreational topics. Now is the time to visit the website www.HighPlainNoTill.com for more information. Online registration is available.
