Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Dec. 7, reported receipts of 2,787 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,767 head last week and 4,450 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs were steady to firm. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were steady except heavy weights over 60 pounds were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 800 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 100 lbs., 50.00 to 65.00. Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 45.00 to 60.00.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few 99 lbs., 100.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 115.00 to 127.00, few 30 to 40 lbs., 130.00 to 140.00. Slaughter bucks, 130 to 240 lbs., 45.00 to 60.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 70 lbs., 90.00 to 105.00; ewes, 70 to 90 lbs., 45.00 to 50.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 110.00 to 118.00; 45 to 60 lbs., 105.00 to 115.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 113.00 to 121.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 42.00 to 50.00, thin 30.00 to 40.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 98.00 to 110.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 70 to 90 lbs., fancy 110.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00.
