Dalhart livestock sales report
The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,192 head Dec. 6, compared to 2,238 head last week and 1,831 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm, with instances of load lots over 550 pounds at $1 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 84% and slaughter cows and bulls 16%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 57% of the run, heifers 43%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 41%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, two packages 312 to 358 lbs., 144.00 to 147.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 131.00, pre-conditioned 132.50 to 134.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 117.00 to 124.00, package 594 lbs., 114.00; load 608 lbs., 116.10, 600 to 700 lb. calves 106.50 to 108.50, pre-conditioned 109.00 to 115.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 109.50, pre-conditioned calves 101.50 to 108.85. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 122.00, pre-conditioned 124.00 to 126.00; two packages 575 to 587 lbs., 106.50 to 112.50; lot 647 lbs., 103.25. Medium and large frame 2, few 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 101.00; lot 636 lbs., 95.00. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, two packages 366 to 367 lbs., 109.00 to 113.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 106.50, pre-conditioned 109.00 to 113.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.85 to 104.50, pre-conditioned 106.00 to 109.25; 600 to 700 lb. calves 95.50 to 99.00; 700 to 800 lb. calves 95.00 to 95.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 97.50 to 102.50; load 669 lbs., 95.50, 600 to 700 lb. calves 95.25 to 97.00; 700 to 800 lb. calves 90.50 to 95.50. Medium and large frame 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 91.00 to 93.50. Slaughter cows: Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 47.00 to 49.00; low dressing, 39.50 to 44.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 35.00 to 40.50.
