Colorado cattle sales report

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., Dec. 7, reported receipts of 10,460 head, compared to 5,600 head last week and 10,365 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing less than 600 pounds sold mostly steady to $2 higher, weights over 600 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher, over 600 pounds were mostly steady to $1 lower. Demand was moderate to good, with best demand for load lots of long-weaned calves. Much needed moisture fell on the Eastern Plains this week, with some areas expecting 4 to 6 inches of snow. The supply was made up of 68% feeder steers, balance feeder heifers, with about 30% of total supply over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 320 lbs., 141.00; 360 to 390 lbs., 130.00 to 138.50; 410 to 430 lbs., 118.00 to 123.00; 450 to 490 lbs., 118.50 to 128.00; 500 to 540 lbs., 106.50 to 115.00; 550 to 590 lbs., 104.00 to 113.00; 620 to 640 lb. calves 105.50 to 106.75.
