Clovis livestock sales report

The Clovis Livestock Auction Co., Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 992 head Dec. 12, compared to 3,138 head last week and 1,934 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers weighing under 600 pounds were firm to $2 higher, steers and heifers over 600 pounds were $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were mostly steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 65%, cows and bulls 30%, bred cows and pairs 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 48% of the run, heifers 52%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 41%.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 129.00 to 132.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 123.50 to 127.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 99.00 to 101.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 96.25 to 98.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 124.00 to 127.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 115.00 23.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.50 to 107.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 98.50 to 101.50; package 730 lbs., 95.00. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 110.50 to 111.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 98.50 to 103.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 114.50 to 122.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 112.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.50 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.50 to 100.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 93.00 to 97.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 107.00 to 114.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 107.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 94.00; package 787 lbs., 85.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 83.75 to 87.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 40.00 to 43.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 44.50 to 47.00; high dressing, 46.75 to 48.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 37.50 to 40.00; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 41.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 36.75 to 44.75.

Holstein slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 44.50 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.50 to 48.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 2100 lbs., 54.25 to 61.50; high dressing, 1500 to 2100 lbs., 62.50 to 66.00; low dressing, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 51.00 to 51.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle aged, 1000 to 1300 lbs., cows 3 to 6 months bred 620.00 to 830.00, per head; aged, 850 to 1200 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred 470 to 550, per head.
