Apache cattle sales report

Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 3,050 head Dec. 8, compared to 4,253 head last week and 4,676 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Steer and heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower. Demand was moderate to good for all classes. Weigh-ups were mostly full. The supply included 35% steers, 59% heifers, 5% bulls and 77% over 600 pounds. Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 563 cows and bulls sold with 40% going to packers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 27 head, 1255 to 1815 lbs., 54.50 to 57.00; high dressing, 57.50 to 62.50; low dressing, 48.50 to 53.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 4 years old, 1070 to 1225 lbs., 2 to 7 months bred, average, 750.00 to 950.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1009 to 1160 lbs., 6 to 7 months bred, average, 630.00 to 900.00; 7 years old, 1115 to 1210 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average, 630.00 to 880.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 7 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 300-lb. calves, average, 850.00 to 1080.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1100 to 1225 lbs., with 150- to 280-lb. calves, average, 650.00 to 940.00.
