Watertown cattle sales report

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 1,500 head Dec. 5, compared to 1,200 head last week and 1,500 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder heifers were steady to $1 higher, while feeder steers were $2 to $4 lower. Feeder steers made up 48% of the sale, feeder heifers 52% with 66% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 18 head, 395 lbs., 136.50; 458 to 476 lbs., 122.50 to 127.50 (125.89); 510 to 547 lbs., 117.00 to 123.00 (120.01); 564 to 592 lbs., 114.75 to 119.50 (116.61); 620 to 632 lbs., 110.00 to 111.50 (110.75) calves; 665 to 669 lbs., 110.25 to 112.50 (111.19) calves; 705 to 747 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00 (107.79) calves; 776 to 792 lbs., 106.00 to 108.25 (107.51); 15 head, 822 to 842 lbs., 107.50 to 108.50 (108.14); 907 to 944 lbs., 104.90 to 107.00 (105.72). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 452 to 490 lbs., 117.00 to 120.50 (118.35); 8 head, 557 lbs., 104.00; 19 head, 602 to 644 lbs., 103.50 to 104.50 (103.88) calves; 8 head, 671 lbs., 94.00; 713 to 743 lbs., 104.00 to 105.00 (104.44) calves; 7 head, 804 lbs., 103.00.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 8 head, 897 lbs., 71.00; 8 head, 920 lbs., 75.75; 8 head, 1271 lbs., 71.75.
