Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,613 head Dec. 3, compared to 1,921 head last week and 490 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves were steady to $1 higher. Feeder cattle were steady to $1 lower. Weigh-ups were mostly average with some full calves. Demand was good with good attendance of buyers. More weaned calves are appearing at sales. Receipts included 52% steers, 39% heifers, 9% bulls, with 21% over 600 pounds. A total of 378 cows and bulls sold 44% going to packers. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady.

Boners, 34 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1430 lbs., 44.00 to 47.50; high dressing, 48.00 to 48.50; low dressing, 39.50 to 43.00. Lean, 48 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1415 lbs., 43.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.00 to 48.50; low dressing, 38.50 to 42.00. Light, 34 head, 85 to 90% lean, 795 to 990 lbs., 36.00 to 40.00; high dressing, 41.00 to 42.50; low dressing, 31.50 to 35.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 23 head, 1100 to 2030 lbs., 53.50 to 57.00; high dressing, 57.50 to 60.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 52.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1250 to 1600 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average quality, 750.00 to 885.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1120 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average quality, 590.00 to 750.00.
