Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 3,882 head Nov. 28, compared to 568 head two weeks ago and 2,808 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

There were not enough last week for a good market test. Compared to two weeks ago, steers under 450 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, 450 to 700 pounds were steady, over 700 pounds were steady to $3 higher. Holsteins under 600 pounds were steady to $5 higher on a light test, over 600 pounds were steady to $3 lower, heifers under 550 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, over 550 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply heavy. Western feedlots started trading fed cattle early at $95 to $95.50. The feeder supply included 41% steers, 8% Holsteins, 39% heifers, 12% bulls, with 45% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 134.00 to 140.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 126.00 to 135.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 125.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.50 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 101.50 to 110.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.50 to 109.50, package calves 100.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 105.50 to 106.50; package 937 lbs., 103.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 134.00, lot thin 144.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 112.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 98.00 to 107.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 101.50 to 110.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 99.00 to 105.50.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 213 lbs., 110.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 98.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 87.00 to 97.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 77.00 to 90.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 72.50 to 80.00; package 810 lbs., 77.50; 900 to 950 lbs., 72.50 to 80.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 113.00 to 118.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 108.50 to 116.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 99.50 to 109.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 96.50 to 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 102.00, calves 93.50 to 98.00; package 769 lbs., 98.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 288 lbs., thin 119.00; 300 to 350 lbs., thin 107.00 to 115.00, 350 to 400 lbs., 109.00 to 111.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 97.00 to 107.00, gaunt/thin 103.50 to 111.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 88.50 to 103.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 88.50 to 98.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 90.50 to 96.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00.
