Sorghum board schedules meetingNebraska The Nebraska Grain Sorghum Board has scheduled a public meeting for Dec. 11 in Kearney, Neb. The meeting will convene at 2 p.m., in Room B of the Holiday Inn Convention Center located at 110 2nd Avenue, Kearney, Neb. The meeting is called to allow the board to revisit and/or reaffirm its position relative to the proposed national check-off on sorghum. The proposed Sorghum Promotion, Research, and Information Order was published in the Federal Register for public comment on Nov. 23. The 60-day period for submitting public comment to USDA will end Jan. 22, 2008. Producers wanting to provide input into the process can do so by contacting http://www.regulations.gov. A copy of the agenda is available by e-mailing sorghum-bk@email.state.ne.us or by phoning the Board at 402-471-4276. The Nebraska Grain Sorghum Board administers the one-cent per hundredweight check-off, which is assessed on all grain sorghum sold in the state. The board's annual budget is invested in the areas of research, market development, producer education and federal legislation. Date: 12/4/07
