Joplin regional cattle sales
The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 9,050 head Dec. 3, compared to 5,100 head last week and 1,980 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were steady to $3 lower. Demand was moderate, supply was heavy. Weather was cool and dry, ideal for transporting and marketing cattle. The feeder supply included 50% steers, 41% heifers, 9% bulls, with 47% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 350 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 140.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 127.00 to 135.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 113.00 to 123.00, thin 121.00 to 129.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.50 to 120.00; 600 to 700 102.00 to 110.00, calves 99.00 to 109.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 104.25 to 109.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00.
