Wyobraska cattle sales report

The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending July 28, totaled 4,650 head, compared to 12,790 head last week and 9,150 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo.

At Wyoming auctions feeder steers and heifers had no price comparison from recent weeks. Demand was moderate to good for available supplies. Trading was moderately active. No good price comparison available, few comparable sales steady to $1 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Buyer inquiry is moderate to good. Offerings moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 28% of the supply, heifers 72%, with 100% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 4300 head of the total receipts.

Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, none. Direct, Medium and large frame 1 FOB price, 725 lbs., 117.00; 875 to 880 lbs., 108.00 September. Delivered price, 845 to 890 lbs., 110.00 to 113.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price, 790 lbs., 111.00. Delivered price, 690 lbs., 115.00; 730 lbs., 111.90.

Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 745 lbs., 105.00; 845 lbs., 101.00; fancy 865 lbs., 105.00; 1035 lbs., 86.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 850 lbs., 112.00 August; 850 lbs., 108.00 September; 925 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00. Delivered price, 800 lbs., 110.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price, 685 lbs., 109.00. Delivered price, 620 to 635 lbs., 107.90 to 108.30.
