Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,771 head July 30, compared to 2,172 head last week and 2,236 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were $3 to $5 higher, heifer calves were $2 to $3 higher except 500 to 600 pounds were $5 to $6 higher. Feeder cattle were $2 to $3 higher. Very active trade and good demand along with good attendance of buyers. Weigh-ups were mostly average. Mostly moderate flesh, few fleshy calves. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 225 cows and bulls sold with 60% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 310 to 325 lbs., 147.00 to 158.00 (151.53); 13 head, 355 to 399 lbs., 144.00 to 153.00 (148.28); 18 head, 400 to 445 lbs., 134.00 to 146.00 (139.50); 453 to 483 lbs., 126.00 to 134.00 (129.62); 503 to 545 lbs., 121.00 to 131.00 (126.09); 553 to 598 lbs., 116.00 to 124.00 (119.54); 600 to 638 lbs., 113.50 to 117.50 (116.04); 650 to 695 lbs., 112.50 to 118.00 (114.72); 705 to 749 lbs., 113.00 to 115.00 (114.51); 16 head, 750 to 755 lbs., 111.00 to 113.00 (111.67). Medium and large frame 2, 10 head, 353 to 380 lbs., 123.00 to 143.00 (132.11); 10 head, 400 to 448 lbs., 114.00 to 123.00 (119.20); 457 to 490 lbs., 109.00 to 123.00 (119.35); 8 head, 530 to 543 lbs., 117.50 to 119.50 (118.94); 9 head, 550 to 585 lbs., 110.00 to 115.00 (110.55). Small and medium frame 1, 7 head, 403 to 445 lbs., 115.00 to 125.00 (119.04). Small frame 3, 6 head, 663 lbs., 59.00 Longhorn.

Lean, 50 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1275 lbs., 51.00 to 54.50; high dressing, 55.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 46.50 to 50.00. Light, 27 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 975 lbs., 45.50 to 49.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 41.50 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 5 head, 1400 to 1885 lbs., 64.00 to 68.00; low dressing, 60.00 to 63.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1400 to 1450 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average quality 850.00 to 1000.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 years old, 1000 lbs., with 80- to 100-lb. calves, average quality 1070.00 to 1200.00; 4 years old, 1000 to 1175 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, average quality 850.00 to 860.00.
