Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,172 head July 23, compared to 2,334 head last week and 2,200 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker steers were $2 to $4 lower. Feeder steers were steady to $2 higher, with the most strength shown on weights over 700 pounds. Stocker and feeder heifers were steady. There was a good attendance of buyers, with active trade. Weigh-ups were average. Receipts consisted of 52% steers, heifers 40%, bulls 7% with 41% feeders over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Demand good on fleshier cows. A total of 232 cows and bulls sold with 51% going to packers.

Boners, 35 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1600 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 64.50; low dressing, 48.50 to 52.00. Lean, 30 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1250 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 51.50. Light, 20% lean, 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 975 lbs., 46.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 41.50 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 19 head, 1300 to 2125 lbs., 65.50 to 69.00; high dressing, 69.50; low dressing, 61.00 to 64.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1200 to 1300 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, high quality blacks, 935.00 to 1000.00.
