Tulia livestock market report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,170 head July 30, compared to 2,706 head last week and 2,208 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, under 600 pounds not enough to test. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls not enough to test. Trade was active and demand good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600- to 930-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 96% and slaughter cows and bulls 4% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 63% of the run, heifers 37%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 74%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.00 to 116.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 111.00 to 117.00; loads 808 lbs., 115.60; large strings 913 to 917 lbs., 112.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 148.00 to 161.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 142.00 to 150.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 129.00 to 134.00; large string 933 lbs., 106.25. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 112.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 114.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 114.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.00 to 112.35. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 255 lbs., 127.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 132.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00; package 588 lbs., 106.25; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 107.50 to 108.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 92.00 to 99.50. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 491 lbs., 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 98.00 to 99.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 95.50 to 103.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 48.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 55.00 to 58.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.25 to 57.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 47.00; high dressing, 50.50 to 53.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 42.00 to 45.00; high dressing, 45.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 39.00 to 40.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 40.00 to 44.00; low dressing, 34.50 to 37.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1140 to 1480 lbs., 61.50 to 63.00; high yielding, 1765 lbs., 72.50; low yielding, 1200 lbs., 57.00.
