Springfield cattle sales reportThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,027 head Aug. 1, compared to 2,014 head last week and 1,325 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 800 pounds and heifers under 700 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, with heavier weights steady. Holsteins were $1 to $3 higher on a light test. Demand was moderate to good, and supply moderate. Several lots of weaned and vaccinated calves were offered. The feeder supply included 37% steers, 9% Holsteins, 40% heifers, 14% bulls, with 43% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 128.50 to 137.00, package thin 139.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 118.00 to 130.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.50 to 122.50; 700 to 740 lbs., 114.00 to 118.00; lot 801 lbs., 107.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., few thin 142.00 to 150.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 135.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 123.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.50 to 120.00, calves 109.50 to 112.50; 700 to 765 lbs., 108.50 to 116.00; package 801 lbs., 105.00; lot 905 lbs., 104.50.
