Sioux Falls sheep sales reportThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., July 23, reported receipts of 1,010 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,466 head last week and 827 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold steady to $1 lower. Slaughter ewes were steady to $1 higher. Feeder lambs were steady on a light test. Receipts included about 62% slaughter lambs, 29% slaughter ewes and the balance miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 44 head, 136 lbs., 105.50. Choice 2 to 3, 12 head, 129 lbs., 104.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 33 head, 106 lbs., 103.50; 86 head, 129 lbs., 105.00; 130 to 145 lbs., 103.50 to 104.50 (103.91). Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 114 to 126 lbs., 100.00 to 102.00 (101.33); 12 head, 135 lbs., 102.00. Slaughter ewes: Utility and Good 2 to 3, 161 to 185 lbs., 31.50 to 34.00 (32.98); 4 head, 213 to 218 lbs., 28.00 to 35.00 (31.46). Utility 2 to 3, 141 to 156 lbs., 21.00 to 25.00 (21.68); 6 head, 190 to 196 lbs., 22.50 to 25.00 (24.59); 18 head, 201 to 223 lbs., 23.00 to 25.50 (25.20).
