Sioux Falls sheep sale

The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,157 head July 30, compared to 1,010 head last week and 1,032 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared with last week, slaughter lambs sold fully steady. Slaughter ewes were steady. Feeder lambs were steady on a light test. Receipts included about 67% slaughter lambs, 23% slaughter ewes and the balance miscellaneous sheep.

Slaughter lambs: Shorn, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 130 to 140 lbs., 104.50 to 105.50 (104.85). Shorn, Choice 2 to 3, 125 to 129 lbs., 103.00 to 104.50 (103.57). Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 130 to 143 lbs., 104.50 to 106.00 (105.34). Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 118 to 129 lbs., 101.00 to 104.00 (102.62).

Slaughter ewes: Utility and Good 2 to 3, 19 head, 131 to 158 lbs., 30.00 to 33.50 (31.35); 174 to 175 lbs., 30.50 to 32.50 (31.32); 6 head, 210 lbs., 31.00. Utility 2 to 3, 8 head, 135 lbs., 25.00; 11 head, 170 to 190 lbs., 21.00 to 23.00 (21.19); 4 head, 225 to 248 lbs., 21.00 to 27.00 (24.15). Cull and Utility 1 to 3, 122 to 158 lbs., 18.50 to 20.00 (18.94). Cull 1 to 2, 10 head, 105 to 125 lbs., 16.00 to 18.00 (16.21).

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 53 lbs., 121.00; 2 head, 63 lbs., 109.00; 71 to 73 lbs., 110.50 to 112.00 (111.72); 2 head, 80 lbs., 109.00; 5 head, 93 lbs., 104.00.

Slaughter kids: Selection 1 to 2, 6 head, 37 lbs., 90.00; 43 to 47 lbs., 87.00 to 93.50 (92.77); 50 to 56 lbs., 93.00 to 94.00 (93.44); 13 head, 70 lbs., 90.00.

Slaughter nannies/does: Selection 1 to 2, 9 head, 106 to 120 lbs., 54.00 to 56.00 (54.95); 34 head, 101 lbs., 55.50.
