Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,780 head July 26, compared to 2,502 head last week and 3,684 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers 500 to 700 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, 700 to 850 pounds were $2 to $3 higher, 850 to 1000 pounds were $3 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers 500 to 750 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, 750 to 900 pounds were not tested. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 84% 600 pounds and over, 15% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 76% steers and 24% heifers.
