OKC livestock sales reportThe OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 4,556 head Aug. 1, compared to 3,945 head last week and 4,697 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady. Number 1 feeder heifers lightly tested, few sales weak. Steer and heifer calves were steady to $3 higher, except 500 weight steers were $2 to $6 higher. Demand very good for all classes. Quality of feeder cattle plain to average with several light muscled cattle included. Feeder cattle flesh a plus for buyers, with several in thin to medium flesh conditions. Weigh-ups were average to full. Slaughter cows were $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 310 cows and bulls sold with 54% going to packers.
