OKC livestock sales report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 4,556 head Aug. 1, compared to 3,945 head last week and 4,697 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady. Number 1 feeder heifers lightly tested, few sales weak. Steer and heifer calves were steady to $3 higher, except 500 weight steers were $2 to $6 higher. Demand very good for all classes. Quality of feeder cattle plain to average with several light muscled cattle included. Feeder cattle flesh a plus for buyers, with several in thin to medium flesh conditions. Weigh-ups were average to full. Slaughter cows were $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 310 cows and bulls sold with 54% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 275 to 300 lbs., 167.50 to 170.00; few 300 to 400 lbs., 141.00 to 153.00; 445 lbs., thin 152.00; 475 to 500 lbs., 141.00 to 148.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 130.00 to 144.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 127.00 to 133.00, fleshy 120.00 to 125.00; 600 to 635 lbs., 118.00 to 121.00; Yearlings: 675 to 700 lbs., 119.50 to 121.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 115.50 to 117.00, 800 to 900 lbs., 111.00 to 115.25; 900 to 935 lbs., 107.25 to 110.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 135.00 to 140.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 124.00 to 126.00; lot 660 lbs., 121.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 113.00 to 117.75, 725 to 775 lbs., thin 115.50 to 121.75; 850 to 875 lbs., 111.25 to 113.50; 900 to 950 lbs., 105.25 to 107.50; lot 1050 lbs., 97.50. Medium and large frame 2, 420 lbs., thin 136.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 121.00 to 129.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 119.00 to 123.50, 700 to 800 lbs., 112.00 to 116.00, thin 116.00 to 117.00; 825 to 875 lbs., 110.00 to 112.00. Medium and large frame 3, several loads 800 lbs., Mexican origin 107.50. Holsteins, Large frame 3, few packages 400 to 500 lbs., 91.00; 790 lbs., 89.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 133.00; few 500 to 575 lbs., 117.00 to 123.50. Yearlings, 600 to 675 lbs., 112.50 to 115.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 110.50; lot 945 lbs., 99.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 lbs., 131.00; 400 lbs., 123.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.00 to 111.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 105.50 to 109.50. Medium and large frame 2, 575 to 600 lbs., 107.50 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 108.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 105.25 to 108.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 100.00 to 104.50.

Boners, 44 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 51.00 to 54.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 62.00; low dressing, 48.50 to 50.00. Lean, 29 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1050 to 1300 lbs., 48.00 to 51.50; high dressing, 55.50 to 56.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 48.00. Light, 6 head, 85 to 90% lean, 700 to 925 lbs., 46.50 to 48.00; high dressing, 53.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 61 head, 1300 to 2350 lbs., 64.50 to 66.00; high dressing, 66.00 to 69.00; low dressing, 62.50; very high 77.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 5 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 2 to 7 months bred, high blacks 1040.00 to 1150.00; 3 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1150 lbs., 2 to 5 months bred, average quality 740.00 to 850.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1150 to 1350 lbs., 7 months bred, high blacks 890.00 to 970.00; 7 to 10 years old, 1150 to 1450 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, average quality 720.00 to 820.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 900 to 950 lbs., with 300- to 350-lb. calves, average black 1250.00; 2 to 6 years old, 950 to 1250 lbs., with 150- to 225-lb. calves, average black 1110.00 to 1210.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, average quality 890.00 to 900.00.
