Kansas specialty food companies to attend Fancy Food Show in Ne

State-organized delegation is Kansas' first in 15 years

Kansas

Four of Kansas' leading specialty food companies will attend the Fancy Food Show in New York City from July 8-10 to market their products and connect with industry members from around the world, the Kansas Department of Commerce announced June 22.

The four companies--Best Regards (Olathe), Harvest Lark Company (Chapman), Mama Dida's (Stilwell) and Pantry Shelf (Hutchinson)--comprise the first Kansas delegation to attend the Fancy Food Show in nearly 15 years. The group is being organized by the Kansas Department of Commerce, which will host a Kansas Pavilion on the floor of the Jacob Javits Convention Center on West 34th Street in New York City.

"This is a truly exciting trade show for these four companies and the entire Kansas specialty food industry," said David Kerr, secretary of the Kansas Department of Commerce. "To be leading a delegation of Kansas companies for the first time in 15 years is special. And there's no grander stage than the Fancy Foods Show in New York."

The Fancy Foods Show in New York is regarded as the premier specialty food show in the nation and has historically attracted between 19,000 and 32,000 attendees from specialty food, wine, gift and department stores, supermarkets, restaurants and other related businesses. These attendees come to see more than 1,000 exhibitors from around the world, presenting more than 100,000 specialty foods to discover and sample. Business booms at these trade-only shows, in a unique decision-maker to decision-maker environment. Nearly 90 percent of all attendees either authorize or recommend purchasing decisions.

"Exhibiting at the New York Fancy Food show was already part of our business plan, so we jumped at the chance to be part of the Kansas Pavilion," said Mama Dida's founder, Dida Avila. "The state of Kansas having a pavilion at the Fancy Food Show is an outstanding way to promote small gourmet food companies in Kansas. It will be beneficial to companies trying to compete on a local, national and international level. Small businesses like Mama Dida's can greatly benefit from State support."
