Joplin regional cattle auction
The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 2,787 head July 30, compared to 3,581 head last year and 3,270 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers were $2 to $5 higher, with the largest increase on steers 600 to 800 pounds, heifers were steady to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply moderate. Buyers active for all weights and classes of cattle, with special attention given to a couple large consignments of weaned calves and yearlings. The feeder supply included 36% steers, 47% heifers, 15% bulls, with 47% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 320 to 365 lbs., 149.00 to 151.50; 425 to 500 lbs., 126.00 to 133.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 121.50 to 131.00; 600 to 700 123.00 to 126.00, calves 113.00 to 129.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 118.00 to 122.50; package 979 lbs., 103.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 127.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 116.00 to 125.00, thin 123.00 to 127.00; 600 to 660 lbs., 113.00 to 122.50; 745 to 800 lbs., 114.00 to 117.50; lot 1016 lbs., 101.75; lot 1106 lbs., 97.25. Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 420 to 435 lbs., 93.00; 530 to 585 lbs., 85.00 to 86.50; 625 to 650 lbs., 82.50 to 84.00; package 798 lbs., 77.50; package 848 lbs., 79.50.
