Goldthwaite sheep salesThe Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas. July 27, reported receipts of 2,278 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,278 head last week and 2,775 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs light weights were $3 to $5 higher, heavy weights were steady on a light test. Stock and feeder goats were steady. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 350 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 70 to 100 lbs., 60.00 to 90.00; 40 to 70 lb. ewe lambs 116.00 to 150.00. Barbados ewes, 60 to 80 lbs., 50.00 to 74.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 225.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few 90 to 110 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00. Choice, 90 to 120 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 96.00 to 111.00. Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 145 lbs., 30.00 to 40.50. Culls, thin/very thin, 20.00 to 30.00. Bucks: 120 to 200 lbs., 40.00 to 45.00.
