Denison feeder cattle sale

The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,623 head July 26, compared to 2,823 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.

This was a special feeder cattle sale. No recent feeder cattle sale to establish a trend, however a firm to higher undertone was noted. Buyer demand was good across the all classes and weights, with the strongest competition for 800 to 900 pound steers and heifers. Receipts included 82% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 43% feeder heifers and 57% feeder steers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 2 head, 465 lbs., 150.00; 502 to 540 lbs., 137.00 to 143.00 (140.01); 12 head, 554 to 582 lbs., 126.00 to 129.00 (127.71); 13 head, 622 to 643 lbs., 125.00 to 126.00 (125.39); 650 to 679 lbs., 122.50 to 123.50 (123.26); 700 to 736 lbs., 116.50 to 121.00 (119.65); 752 to 788 lbs., 117.25 to 121.50 (119.55); 800 to 846 lbs., 115.75 to 123.00 (118.58); 871 to 898 lbs., 112.50 to 118.00 (115.73); 901 to 914 lbs., 113.50 to 115.00 (114.62); 46 head, 999 lbs., 103.75; 1008 to 1017 lbs., 105.25 to 106.75 (106.06). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 221 lbs., 420.00 per head; 13 head, 305 to 321 lbs., 168.00 to 170.00 (168.90); 11 head, 354 to 355 lbs., 129.00 to 137.00 (133.37); 8 head, 454 to 488 lbs., 130.00 to 138.00 (134.14); 10 head, 623 to 642 lbs., 116.00 to 118.00 (117.41); 658 to 681 lbs., 110.50 to 118.50 (117.23); 20 head, 755 to 784 lbs., 111.50 to 115.00 (113.83); 12 head, 811 to 838 lbs., 111.00 to 112.75 (112.32).
