Arkansas livestock sales
The weekly summary of livestock sales in Arkansas for the week ending July 26, showed estimated receipts of 7,950 head, compared to 10,416 head last week and 8,603 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold steady to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady. Feeders sold firm to $3 higher. The supply was composed of 4,650 stocker and feeder calves, 1,910 feeder yearlings, 645 replacement cows, 655 slaughter cows, and 90 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 42% yearling heifers. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 47.00 to 53.00; high dressing, 53.00 to 56.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 46.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 44.00 to 50.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 37.00 to 43.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 37.00 to 44.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 61.00 to 68.00; high dressing, 68.00 to 75.50; low dressing, 59.00 to 61.00. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, english cross and english/exotic crosses, 300 to 350 lbs., 136.00 to 146.00 few sales to 160.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 133.00 to 143.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 126.00 to 136.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 129.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 115.00 to 125.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 116.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 101.00 to 111.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 350 lbs., 123.00 to 133.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 117.00 to 127.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 98.00 to 108.00. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 650 to 800 lbs., open heiferettes 72.00 to 82.00; 2 to 3 years old, 800 to 1000 lbs., open heiferettes 58.00 to 68.00; 3 to 7 years old, 850 to 1250 lbs., third stage 70.00 to 80.00, 800.00 to 900.00 per head; second stage 56.00 to 66.00, 700.00 to 800.00 per head; first stage or open 48.00 to 58.00; 8 to 10 years old, 850 to 1200 lbs., second to third stage 41.00 to 51.00 650.00 to 750.00 per head; thin grazing cows 40.00 to 50.00. Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 7 years old, 800 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves 800.00 to 900.00 per pair; 200- to 300-lb. calves 1125.00 to 1225.00 per pair, few to 1500.00.
