Amarillo livestock sales
The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,727 head July 31, compared to 1,738 head last week and 1,612 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, under 600 pounds not enough for an adequate market test. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 700- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade was active and demand good. Feeder cattle accounted for approximately 93% of the run with cows and bulls accounting for 7% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 56%, heifers 44%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds 80%.
