Amarillo livestock sales

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,727 head July 31, compared to 1,738 head last week and 1,612 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, under 600 pounds not enough for an adequate market test. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 700- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade was active and demand good. Feeder cattle accounted for approximately 93% of the run with cows and bulls accounting for 7% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 56%, heifers 44%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds 80%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 377 lbs., 144.00; package 463 lbs., 139.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 120.00 to 131.00; package 590 lbs., 116.00; 600 to 700 lbs., few 117.00 to 119.00; package 713 lbs., calves 113.00; load 763 lbs., 116.50; couple loads 852 lbs., 114.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 129.00 to 138.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 114.00 to 119.00, calves 113.00 to 116.00; load 834 lbs., 110.75; load 927 lbs., 106.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 128.00 to 135.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00; package 556 lbs., 113.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.00 to 111.50. Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 112.00; package 720 lbs., 96.00; package 819 lbs., 93.50; package 913 lbs., 85.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 108.50 to 117.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 375 to 400 lbs., 118.00 to 124.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 118.00 to 122.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 110.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 104.00 to 108.75. Small and medium frame 2, package 298 lbs., 122.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 121.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 105.00 to 113.00; package 645 lbs., 104.00; package 774 lbs., 101.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 52.50 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.25; low dressing, 44.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 50.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 53.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 48.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 49.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 53.00; low dressing, 45.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 43.00 to 46.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1350 to 2050 lbs., 62.00 to 65.50; high dressing, 1300 to 2000 lbs., 66.50 to 72.25; low dressing, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 58.00 to 60.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle aged to aged, 900 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred 650.00 to 740.00 per head.
