Aberdeen cattle sales
The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, S.D., reported receipts of 1,168 head Aug. 1, compared to 3,163 head last week and 3,011 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared with last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly $2 to $3 higher on a light test. Some cancellations due to hot, dry weather conditions. Steers comprised 72% of the run, heifers 28%, with supply 91% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 460 lbs., 142.00; 23 head, 627 lbs., 133.50 value added; 6 head, 705 lbs., 119.50; 18 head, 805 lbs., 113.00; 870 to 887 lbs., 112.50 to 115.75 (114.77); 887 to 899 lbs., 114.75 to 120.00 (119.39) value added; 910 to 911 lbs., 118.35 to 120.00 (119.17) value added; 14 head, 970 lbs., 106.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 462 lbs., 132.00; 8 head, 564 lbs., 134.00; 9 head, 616 to 641 lbs., 119.00 to 120.00 (119.55); 10 head, 693 lbs., 117.00; 10 head, 760 to 793 lbs., 108.50 to 112.50 (110.15); 9 head, 928 lbs., 101.50.
