Wyobraska cattle sales
The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Aug. 17, totaled 1,700 head, compared to 6,850 head last week and 6,320 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Feeder cattle were not well tested at Wyoming auctions this week. Demand was good. Direct trading was slow. Few comparable sales were steady. Demand was moderate to good. Buyer inquiry is moderate to good. Offerings moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 53% of the supply, heifers 47%, with 95% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1600 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium to large frame 1, none. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 910 to 925 lbs., 107.75 to 113.00. Delivered price, calves 600 lbs., 120.25 October. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 360 lbs., 126.00; 1025 to 1050 lbs., 104.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 860 lbs., 111.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 103.25 to 108.50 September.
